Makes me wonder!
Before Google became a domain registar (early February 2005) my internet speed and connection was lighting speed. I use to be able to surf the web with barely any load time (unless it was site specific), if I surf major sites or smaller sites I get the same sluggish result, as long as the site is not cached. I sometimes even get the dreaded "Page cannot be displayed", from sites that I know are up and running, after several feeble attempts I am finally able to get to the site. What is going on? Though, I am able to get to Google with barely any load time. It may be only me, but it is driving me insane, I feel like I'm in the Internet Twilight Zone. I sometimes feel I am on a dial-up connection, when using high-speed. Of course, it still performs at greater speeds than dial-up, but I feel the difference. It is a slight difference, because an average web user wouldn't take notice to it, but someone like myself who "surf and work" the web at least 10 hours a day, feels the drag. It doesn't matter which network I'm on, it drags. I can be on a client site with much more speed and performance than my computer at home, I can be in another state at my family house, or I can be at the library. I have checked for spyware, connectivity, and viruses, but each time I come up empty. I don't get the exact same results every time or with any specific sites, but I remember when high-speed, really meant high-speed. Has Google changed this? Has Google bought rights to the internet? It is an unrealistic theory, but I'm curious to understand this.
When becoming a domain registar, what control do you have over the internet? Does Google have any root hint power? If they do, then maybe, just maybe this theory can be taken more literally. Or could it just be that certain ISP's have did something different. I myself have a large ISP. . . and anyway, all ISP's lease their network lines from a larger communication providers like AT&T, MCI, and the alike. I don't know what is going on and just speculating! But until my internet speed returns I will keep my cache enabled to the maximum.
